South of France by electric car

Travelling to the South of France by electric car has become much easier than it used to be, but it still requires a bit of planning. In the South of France, the installation of charging points has taken off, especially in cities and tourist areas, but the availability can vary from region to region. Big cities like Nice, Marseille and Cannes have a good selection, while in more rural areas the choice is usually considerably poorer. So make sure you consider charging options when choosing your dream home in the South of France so you can maximise your stay and enjoy everything this wonderful region has to offer.

Charging at the accommodation is NOT an option

If you are travelling with an electric car - please note that charging at the holiday home is NOT allowed unless it is mentioned that the property offers electric car charging (only possible in very few places). Unfortunately, the majority of our French holiday homes do not have the electrical capacity or approved electrical installations to accommodate the load that charging creates. Therefore, we recommend using public charging stations instead.

Your guide to charging abroad

One of the best sites to find the location of charging stations in the South of France is ChargeMap. This platform provides comprehensive information about charging stations, including availability, charging types and user ratings. Another useful resource is PlugShare, which also offers maps with details of charging points and user experiences. Both sites have mobile apps that make it easy to find charging stations on the go.
