Villelaure is also just over 30 kilometres from the very elegant Aix-en-Provence. Villelaure is a typical Provencal village. Not that it has much to offer, but if you're looking for peace and quiet and enjoy exploring the beautiful Provençal hinterland, Villelaure is a perfect starting point for your holiday. Villelaure is home to the remains of the Château de Trésémines, a testament to the town's tumultuous past. After being in the hands of several lords until the 16th century, the current village was founded in 1512. At the time, there were only 19 inhabitants in the town. In 1582, after many difficult years of destruction, the town was reborn once again. Today, Villelaure is a peaceful town where nothing seems to disturb the tranquil atmosphere. |
