Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is an extremely charming medieval village located at the foot of the Plateau de Vaucluse mountain range on the Comtat Venaissin plain. L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is beautifully laid out as a canal town, penetrated by five branches of the Sorgue River, which has its source 7 kilometres north of the town in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. A holiday in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue offers great opportunities for excursions or for numerous outdoor activities in the beautiful and very mountainous surroundings.

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is best known for its many brocante and antique shops. Twice a year, from Easter until 15 August, more than 500 antique dealers and second-hand dealers exhibit their wares during the major events: les salons d'antiquaires and les foires internationales à la brocante.

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is an incredibly cosy town with its many canals that give it a very special character. The town has several interesting buildings, including the fortified tower La Tour Boutin, also known as Tour d'Argent, whose origin is unknown, the church Notre Dame des Anges with its beautiful baroque interior, an old granary, now used as a tourist office, and an 18th-century hospital that houses a very fine collection of faiences from Moustiers. The town also boasts a couple of old and very large water mills.

Golf - There is a wealth of golf courses in the area, 4 in the department of Vaucluse and several in the neighbouring southern department of Bouhes du Rhône. The French Golf Union has a website where most courses are presented. Unfortunately, the website is in French.
