St-Aygulf

St-Aygulf is a small seaside resort located on the outskirts of the ancient Roman city of Fréjus, just 7 km from the centre of Fréjus. The town is picturesquely situated on the border between the lush Massif des Maures and the iconic red Estérel Mountains. This scenic area offers a great base for your holiday and an ideal starting point for excursions to the surrounding treasures.

St-Aygulf was recognised as a seaside resort as early as 1880 and enjoyed great popularity during the belle époque period when it attracted numerous artists and celebrities, including the famous author Alexandre Dumas and renowned actress Sarah Bernhardt. Despite its early popularity, St-Aygulf was quickly overtaken by its larger neighbours St-Raphaël, Ste-Maxime and St-Tropez, but it has managed to retain its unique charm.

Today, St-Aygulf is a destination for a smaller but growing clientele who appreciate its tranquil atmosphere and wide range of sports and leisure activities. With beautiful beaches for sunbathing and swimming, the surrounding hills and mountains offer opportunities for hiking, cycling and exploring the rich flora and fauna.

It is especially popular with ornithologists and botanists who are attracted by the varied habitats and abundant wildlife. The beautiful landscapes and clean seawater provide opportunities for birdwatching and study of the many local plant species, adding to St-Aygulf's appeal as a destination for nature lovers.

Climbing: There are good climbing opportunities in this area, especially Cap du Dramont is a favourite spot for climbers.
