Ollioules is beautifully situated in a stunning landscape at the foot of the large mountain Le Gros Cerveau in the Var department, 7 kilometres northwest of the naval city of Toulon. Ollioules is an ideal holiday destination due to its extremely advantageous location close to the water, yet slightly secluded from the hustle and bustle of the coast.
Ollioules is a charming medieval village with well-restored houses, colonnaded streets and flower-filled balconies. Ollioules is especially known for its flowers and is also known as la reine des fleurs (the queen of flowers).
The name Ollioules also derives from the Roman word Oliolis and has its origins in olives, which have been cultivated in the area for thousands of years.
From le Gros Cerveau, located at 480 metres above sea level, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the coast: Giens peninsula, Cap Sicié, les Embiez, Sanary, Bandol and île de Bendor as well as the hinterland: Sainte-Baume, Mont Caume, Baou des Quatre Oures, Mont Faron, Grés de sainte-Anne, gorges d'Ollioules. Several walking routes lead to the top of the mountain.
