La-Cadière-d'Azur
La Cadière-d'Azur is a small medieval village located on top of a hill in the Var department, 6 km north of the holiday resort Bandol. Due to its excellent location, slightly secluded from the coast but still close by, La Cadière-d'Azur is an ideal holiday destination. La Cadiére-d'Azur is a charming little village that has retained its Provençal authenticity with its many flower-filled streets, small shops and craft shops selling pottery and local products. It's easy to see why so many famous artists and painters have been drawn to the area. La Cadière-d'Azur has managed to preserve several memories of the past. The remains of the old ramparts are pierced by three majestic gates, la porte Saint Jean, in the centre of the city, la porte Mazzarine in the east and la porte de la Colle in the west. Next to the town hall, la Mairie, is the 16th-century porte de Saint Jean. The door wings still exist and are studded with huge nails. The town also has a 16th-century church built on the ruins of a 12th-century church, whose bell tower has one of the oldest bells in the Var and dates back to 1458. From La Cadiére-d'Azur there is a beautiful view towards the more famous Le Castellet, located on a cliff top on the other side of the valley.
