The picturesque medieval village of Bargemon is located at an altitude of 480 metres surrounded by mountains, olive groves and vineyards. Bargemon is well protected in the Provençal hinterland about an hour's drive from the coast at Fréjus/Saint-Raphaël. Nearby are several other picturesque medieval villages such as Callas, Claviers, Seillans and Fayence. An hour's drive north-west of Bargemon, you'll also find the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon, one of Europe's greatest natural phenomena.
Bargemon is a typical Provençal medieval village with its old stone houses, narrow streets and pretty little fountains. In Bargemon you can see historic chapels, a curious museum with old typewriters and a 12th-century church built into the town's fortress wall.
The entire city centre is easy to see, especially from the square, which is the focal point of all activity. Under the square's large, shady plane trees, you can enjoy a cup of coffee undisturbed for hours.
Bargemon is particularly well known for its olive oil, local honey production and spring water that is so pure you can drink it directly from the town fountains. It's also delightfully unpretentious and far less crowded than towns like Vence and neighbouring Fayence.
