Montbrun-les-Bains

The small medieval village of Montbrun-les-Bains is beautifully situated at the foot of the legendary Mont Ventoux mountain in the Drôme department. A holiday in Montbrun-les-Bains offers fantastic nature experiences in the very lush and mountainous surroundings as well as excellent opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, cycling, golf, skiing, horse riding and paragliding.

Montbrun-les-Bains, voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, is extremely interesting with many historical and cultural memories. A walk through the old town is like stepping back in time.

At the top of the town, the remains of the old 16th-century Château Dupuy-Montbrun dominate. La Porte de l'Horloge on Place du Beffroi marks the entrance to the old medieval city centre.

It is an old 14th-century castle tower with bullet holes and a parapet with a scalding hole, which was once part of a defence, of which only a tower and a small section of wall remain. At the foot of the tower is a beautiful round fountain. The town is also home to several beautiful ruins, including a couple of round towers with bullet holes and a 12th-century church built into the old town wall.

Montbrun-les-Bains is, as the name suggests, also a spa town. The old spas, built by le Comte d'Aulan at the end of the 19th century, are located at the foot of the old town centre. Montbrun-les-Bains is known for its highly sulphurous water, which is said to be good for people with arthritis, the respiratory system and the skin.
