Villeneuve-Loubet

Villeneuve-Loubet er en lille ferieby, der ligger langs kysten mellem Nice og Antibes. Et ophold her giver mange muligheder for at udforske Côte d’Azur, herunder berømte destinationer som Nice, Cannes, Antibes og Monte Carlo. Derudover kan man også opleve det spændende bagland med charmerende middelalderbyer som Vence, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Mougins, Biot og Grasse. Den internationale lufthavn i Nice ligger kun 15 minutters kørsel væk.

Byen er uadskilleligt forbundet med Marina Baie-des-Anges, et stort og arkitektonisk meget spændende og atypisk kompleks med i alt 1600 lejligheder. Komplekset, der består af fire bygninger, ligger omkring en marina direkte ved Middelhavet. På stedet findes der både restauranter og indkøbsmuligheder.

Den middelalderlige landsby Villeneuve-Loubet ligger lidt tilbagetrukket fra kysten midt imellem Nice og Antibes. Villeneuve-Loubet er en charmerende lille by med snoede gader, idylliske pladser og små hyggelige restauranter. Villeneuve-Loubet domineres af et middelalderslot, der i sin tid tilhørte familien Villeneuve.

Villeneuve-Loubet er især kendt for at være mesterkokken Auguste Escoffier’s (1847-1936) fødeby. Auguste Escoffier har bl.a. været køkkenchef på Grand Hôtel i Monte Carlo samt på Savoy i London, og det var ham, som opfandt Bombe Néro og Pêche Melba.

He has his own museum in Villeneuve-Loubet with 5,000 menus from famous dinners, numerous photos, including from the occasion when Escoffier became a Knight of the Dannebrog, marzipan and icing objects and many other items related to the art of cooking.
