Èze-Village

The medieval village of Eze is beautifully perched like an eagle's nest on a small cliff top at an altitude of 427 metres between Monaco and Nice. A stay in one of Provacances' holiday apartments in Eze offers great opportunities to explore the old, historic town or to go on exciting excursions in the surrounding countryside. The area also offers numerous outdoor activities such as swimming and water sports, cycling, horse riding, hiking, golf and skiing.

Eze is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque spots on the Côte d'Azur, so be prepared that you won't be alone in climbing this stunning mountain village. Crowding is the price you have to pay for this experience, unless you're lucky enough to be able to visit out of season.

At the top of the town are the remains of the old 12th century castle (demolished in 1706). Surrounding the castle is a modest botanical garden, the ‘Jardin Exotique’, which above all offers excellent panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the French Riviera. This unique garden is a hidden paradise with an impressive collection of succulents and exotic plants that thrive in the mild climate. The paths lead visitors through lush beds and small sculptures, creating a peaceful atmosphere. The ‘Jardin Exotique’ is therefore an oasis where you can enjoy the beauty of nature and the enchanting views of Monaco.

This ancient mountain village is incredibly charming with narrow, winding staircases, covered passages, shady squares, ancient fountains and medieval stone houses that are all different from one another. All houses have undergone extensive restoration to a very high standard. Unfortunately, only a few houses are inhabited today. Most have small souvenir shops, galleries and restaurants, including the very famous "Chèvre d'Or" (Golden Goat). The town itself looks like a theatre set - it's that beautiful.

A narrow path, the "Sentier de Nietzsche", leads from the town down to the coast and was a favourite place for Nietzche to walk when he stayed in the town to work on his work Also sprach Zarathustra, in which he depicts the new ideal of man. Eze-sur-Mer is a small seaside resort with fine beaches, all kinds of water sports, cafés, restaurants and hotels.
