Biot

The small picturesque village of Biot is located in the Alpes Maritimes department, halfway between Cannes and Nice and only 4 kilometres from the coast. With its fantastic location slightly secluded from the coast, Biot is an ideal holiday destination.

Biot is a very popular medieval village that actually dates back to 154 BC. Biot is also an ancient Templar domain, and old fortifications such as the Porte des Migraniers from 1566 can still be found here. Although Biot is often crowded in high season, it still maintains its natural charm with its medieval gates, vaulted passages, staircases and beautiful stone houses and is definitely worth a visit.

Biot is best known for its air bubble glass. At La Verrerie de Biot you can watch the master craftsmen at work. Biot also has an interesting Léger Museum, which is entirely dedicated to the cubist painter Fernand Léger. The Léger Museum is located in an imposing building south-east of Biot.

Hiking: sentier de la Brague - a very shady path that follows the Brague river all the way to Valbonne - perfect when the sun shines from a cloudless sky.
