Holidays in St. RaphaëlSaint-Raphaël is a popular holiday destination located on the French Mediterranean coast between Cannes and Saint-Tropez. Saint-Raphaël is set in a beautiful landscape on the border between the two large mountain ranges Massif des Maures and Montagnes de l'Estérel. Saint-Raphaël offers first and foremost a long, wide sandy beach, a beautiful marina and good shopping opportunities. The beautiful beach promenade continues westwards all the way to the neighbouring town of Fréjus, and along the way there are several cosy restaurants, cafés and ice cream parlours. Saint-Raphaël has an old town centre with narrow streets and shady squares, and every morning there is a flower and vegetable market. North of the railway is a heavily fortified Templar church from the 12th century. It is gloomy inside and out, but interesting because these churches are very rare. Close to the church is the Musée Archéologique with a large collection of Roman memorabilia. The city's very beautiful cathedral, Notre-Dame-de-Victoire, dates from 1884 and is located by the old harbour. 
The most beautiful stretch of road on the coast, the Corniche de l'Estérel stretches from Saint-Raphaël in the west to La Napoule/Cannes in the east. It runs along the wild Estérel mountain range with the red cliffs on one side and the blue Mediterranean Sea on the other. Dazzling panoramas are constantly revealed. There are several opportunities to pull over, stop, take photos and enjoy the scenery.
